Here is a picture of the Guard "Taking post" to "Zoom" Spencers guard tent on the first tour.

Tug, I think too many for the normal guard, there are more troops in background towards the old Gulf Airways hangar, as well as seating. The tent from the angle looks more like "A" Coy Orderly Room, However I may be wrong.

Bill where is the picture??

Nick,
I think you are right, looking at it again "Zooms Palace" would have been further down to the right and below that picture, just shows how much grey matter is AWOL these days,i like Bills photo above.

Robbie,
Tony was one of my Sgts when i was C/Sgt Pln Commander of the A/Tks on the Malta tour,i believe he made RSM before retiring and i am sorry to say he has since passed on to Valhalla.RIP Tony.

Bill,
Didn't that football team get given Omega watches by the Sheik after playing the Bahrain national team?

Terry G did you not note my post about the plank carrier? Was it Mick Feeney. Forgot you were on the Heat Trials, who was your Section Commander then? There was Charlie Cooper and me but I forget the name of the other one and also the Jock Sgt.

Nick that was the Heat Trials when we had to stay with 2 Para and sleep in the Gym!!

Tug,
I know that the Shiek was involved with this parade etc. However the little old cells are churning with the name "Profumo". Was he not involved on a last tour of the Middle East as the War Minister, before the excreta hit the fan with the Christine Keeler affair.

The Cpl of the Guard in Nicks picture looks like Cpl Morris, AKA "Wingnut" on account of his ears, later CSM of HQ Coy(I think) on the Malta tour.
The pictures below were given to me by "Sparra" Wilson who was in D Coy at the time, you will remember D Coy went down after the main Body had returned to Bahrain, in the first picture "Pony Soldier" is at the top right sitting.Who are the others?

The Bahrain & Radfan Years

Post  Kentish Lad on Fri Feb 12, 2010 1:14 pm

HI tUG & cO,

That is definately Cpl Morris I always knew him as "Snose" on account of his hotter!! In the second of the two pictures of the Parade the rank nearest is I believe Sgt "Daddy" Sharman, the next two I do not know then Joe Lyall, Mick Feeney, Aussie Nick and I think "Zip" Button.

Terry how could I forget Oslwaldtwisle we used to take the mick over that!!

"Right - 'Stand To' you lot and pay attention"

Top photo - Definitely the Pony and below him 'Panky' Pankhurst others to distant to see but next along looking to the left may be Pete Spicer.

Bottom Pic L-R - I Remember the face but the name? posssibly Walsh? Next is Pete 'Slacky' Spicer, Trevor 'Humpty' Humphries then 'Tich' Baldwin. At the front is Dave Taylor. All D Coy guys.

If anyone knows of the whereabouts of Dave Taylor I would love to hear.

That's sorted them out Tug - Hi Nick How are you?
