Jim Coffey Empty Just a nice guy.

It's only when you get older (or in my case aged) that you appreciate the people that you would have liked to get to know better; Jim Coffey was one such guy. After joining the battalion in Malta at eighteen meeting new people was way down my list of priorities (unless you were tall, slim, long dark hair, female and goes without saying "cheap"). Jim and I really only had a passing acquaintance and the occasional chat over a beer but even then you would be hard pressed to find fault with the guy. Easy going to the extreme, affable and never missed his round. It was two or three years after Malta that someone mentioned in passing that Jim was off somewhere, training free fallers in the Oman or some such. A long time after that again that I found out Jim had passed away. As I said before “missed opportunities” will follow us to the end. This is really just a short note to say RIP Jim.
Bernie

In memory of gentleman Jim Coffey who introduced me to free-fall on a course at Kings Field, Dhekelia, during the Battalion's 1972 UN tour. John Sibley , also gone, was in the course photo, which I have long since lost. Fondest memories. John Watkins, Armourer's Shop. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad
