Tug,I remember you now, going by the old photos, you will still be the same dapper, sveld gentleman yet, like me,NOT,I also remember Ginger "Jock"Thompson,I met him up in this region in the late 60,s when he was posted to to the tank ranges at Kirkcudbright,as an a/tk instructor, the other two I remember vaguely, but the old grey matter isn't what it used to be,
Take care,
Jim.

Tug was this the tented camp at Jebel Ali which 'B' Coy along with 'Moonie Walters' took their turn and visited in 1964 on the 2nd Bahrain tour. Fabulous place for a sun tan, not to mention the Company Smokers. You didn't ask a man where he was going with a shovel !!

Correct, also used on the first tour for a bit of R&R.You might remember the track going the opposite direction from Sharjah (to the right) went to Muscat and the "Omex patrols" in the Oman mountains.

Re: The Bahrain & Radfan Years
Ride of the Valkeries was hard enough to keep in step with with our own band playing that must have been nigh on impossible. Brilliant pictures though Tug. I think I can remember on one occasion on the second tour the shiek presented the whole free fall team with (Gold?) Rolex watches for doing a jump.

Re: The Bahrain & Radfan Years
You are correct when you say we had two Lt Col's at that time Nick, but it's not "Roly" or "Farrar" in the picture although i agree you can't see much of the officer in the picture posted.
As for the suggestion on the other picture that it is "Bennie" Registe!!!!! no way,Bennie would have blended into the background

Here's one of the entrance to Hamala Camp(2nd Tour for those who don't know) in a Sand storm. To think we built a lot of that camp whilst on the first tour, so that 1 Para could have billets with air conditioning when they came out,and they wonder why we were called the "Gunggy 3"!!!!
